Arkansas Student Loans

The Arkansas Department of Higher Education
provides students a variety of student aid options to assist them with their college goals. From small grants to tuition waivers, the programs are generous and address almost any situation.

Arkansas Student Assistance Grant Program
Based on need and awarded on a first come, first serve basis, the Student Assistance Grant entails an annual award of $600.

Arkansas Health Education Grant Program (ARHEG)
The Health Education Grant offers financial assistance to individuals seeking professional training in dentistry, chiropractic training, osteopathic medicine, optometry, podiatric medicine and veterinary. To qualify, the student must attend an institution outside of Arkansas.

Academic Challenge Scholarship
For students having completed the pre-collegiate core curriculum while in high school, the Academic Challenge Scholarship can help pay for college. Students must achieve a score of 19 or better on the ACT, and demonstrate financial need.

Minority Teachers Scholarship
Available to students of various ethnicities, the Minority Teachers Scholarship program entails an award of $5,000 annually to college juniors and seniors seeking a teaching degree. Recipients are required to teach in Arkansas for a pre-determined time period after graduation.

MIA/KIA Dependents Scholarship Program
A waiver for tuition and other college related expenses, the MIA/KIA scholarship is designed for the spouses and dependents of military employees ranked as KIA, MIA or POW.

Law Enforcement Dependent’s Scholarship Program
Similar to the previous program, the Law Enforcement Dependent’s Scholarship is a waiver program for tuition and college related fees. Individuals who qualify include dependents and spouses of Arkansas law enforcement officers, some ADOT employees, and other public employees, who were killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty.
